1982 Freedom 39 Sailing Yacht, Pilothouse Model with Yanmar 50 HP diesel replacing the original Perkins engine.
This is the rare and coveted Freedom 39 Pilot House Schooner. It has an aft cockpit and a low-profile pilothouse forward of the cockpit. It has a raked stem, a slightly reverse transom, a skeg mounted rudder steered by a wheel. This Yacht has a fixed fin keel. It is built for speed and easy sailing from the cockpit with all ropes terminating there.
This Yacht has two cabins and two heads. There is a U-shaped dinette in the center of the main living area. This dinette folds down to form a large sleeping area. The current owner uses this space with an inflatable matteress to form a large sleeping bed. The galley is adjacent to this area.
This sailing yacht was designed to offer the advantages of a Schooner but with improved windward sailing characteristics. This is a fast yacht. One owner reports the hull speed to be 11+ with bursts to 12+.
