Historic British Columbia Motor Vessel BC MAID III built by Yahei Takenaka in 1926. Converted to a liveaboard in 2011. Sold in 2020 (?) due to the death of one of its owners, this beautiful vessel is available again due to the health of its current owner.
Sixty feet long , she is made from old growth Douglas fir and weighs approximately 26 tonnes. Outfitted with all the modern necessities of a typical home; propane stove and oven, microwave, 110v shorepower, on demand water heater, shower, dry flush toilet, pellet stove (heat), fridge and Incredible amount of storage . Can convert the hull to other rooms. Renovations or modelling is easy since it is wood construction. Upper living areas are fully insulated and protected with
Fibreglass as are the decks. Big, powerful anchor and windlass, lots of chain and the best part, a Detroit Diesel 671 that was rebuilt in 2010. driving station with toggle control. Lots of modern windows ensure a bright galley and living room. Huge deck space for relaxing.
It is important that the owner finds someone who would appreciate the opportunity to own a classic British Columbia ship and has the ability to repair and maintain her. The owner is willing to offer it free, to someone who can provide regular maintenance and a place to anchor or moor.
BC Maid requires some attention to a few areas that need repairs including: caulking, bottom paint and possibly refastening a few planks. The main part of the hull has not been finished so you can examine the hull from the inside. It requires some upgrading of the electrical system or more precisely, improvement to the current wiring such as new circuit blocks (inexpensive and easy to install and/or replace) and connection panels The current owner is prepared to offer this ship to the right person who sees an incredible opportunity to explore our coast, enjoy the live aboard lifestyle either at a marina, private dock or off grid anchored in a quiet bay.
