Electrical System
Two larger newer sealed Batteries run most everything on board. Interior lights are Florescent and Incandescent Charging is by three methods. The Honda auxiliary motor, a solar cell mounted on the rear lazerette cover and a built in 120V AC charger that also operates as a float charger. There is a long 30 Amp extension cord included and the wiring system includes GFI in the circuit. All DC circuits are fused.
Other Equipment
Boat has an Edson pedestal steering system with a SS destroyer type steering wheel and a new compass installed in the pedestal. There is also a newer compass mounted on the port side next to the entrance hatch. Sails include main, 120 jib, 180 multi color Genoa, and an Asymmetrical cruising spinnaker of 425 sq. ft.which is also multi color. The Spinnaker is deployed from a "Spinnaker Sock" which works great and adds a lot of safety and great control and can be used to run the Spinnaker reefed. You do not need to use a spinnaker pole with this design. This boat also has a 1200 lb cast iron swing keel that works great. With the keel down the boat draws about 6 feet and with it up it draws about 26" which I found to be great on the lakes we sailed on like Lake Winnebago. The keel has 3 coats VC tar and 2 coats of an excellent anti fouling paint. The bottom of the boat has newer anti fouling bottom paint. The engine I installed in the lazerette and was new about 5 years ago. It is a 20 HP 4 stroke and is used very little and runs great and is very dependable if the wind quits. There is a 12 gallon fuel tank down below under the cockpit. There is a Bimini top for those hot sunny days. It is very clean and almost new. A pop top made of top quality Sunbrella is included. It has a heavy nylon zipper where the interior hatch is and windows on all sides. The overhead can be raised up to give additional stand up head room above the interior above the dinette/cooking area.
Remarks
I have had this boat since 1986 and and we spent more time taking care of it than we did sailing I think. Most people don't believe it is a 1978. Most the wood inside is Mahogany and it has a bow sprit made of teak. It also has a SS bow pulpit. For more info and photos, please see sailboats on craigslist in the Appleton/Oshkosh Wisconsin area. Included is a twin axle trailer with almost new heavy duty trailer tires and surge brakes.
